Always looking for a way to improve on creating an even playing field for it's competitors, the Appalachian Mountain Speedweek has adjusted their Time Trial procedure for 2010. The competitors will still draw a pill upon registering their car at each race but now will Time Trial at the same time as the rest of the cars in that will be in their respective heat races. "The first 10 or 12 cars (depending on the number of heats needed) that time trial will all end up in Heat #1. The next 10 to 12 will be in Heat #2 and so on" stated Series Founder J.R. Keifer. "This "Group Time Trial Method" is a fair way to help create an even playing field as the track changes during the Time Trial session" added Keifer.

 Not only will it even things for the driver that goes out real late compared to having and early Time Trial number - but it will also help increase the pace of our shows" stated Series Competition Director Kurt Smith. "As Time Trials are finishing up we'll have the earlier heat line ups ready to go with the exception of the invert... which will still be drawn by the Shearer Custom Speed quick time award winner" added Smith.

The rest of the time trial format will stay the same with 2 laps being given to each driver in fields of 39 or less competitors, and 1 lap of qualifying when fields exceed 40 competitors. The fast time winner will be brought to the front stretch and will draw for the heat race invert. The possible invert will be a 2, 3 or 4.
